The counselling process isn’t a quick fix. It takes time for the counsellor to understand your feelings and difficulties and for you together to uncover what is going on under the surface of the problem before working on how to grow. I do not believe in “sticky plaster counselling” – only looking at the current situation and surface problems. I believe work needs to be done at a deeper level, so you can learn how to deal with the current situation, but also overcome past hurts which may still be holding you back today and learn tools to help you in the future too.
How long it takes will vary from person to person, but the more you put in, the more you will benefit. I cannot do the work for you, but can support you on the journey of discovery and growth.
You may find you feel worse when you first start counselling. This is often due to the surfacing of emotions that had been hidden or buried. You should find this will improve over time. I am committed to working through this with you so you can find a more positive position and feel better about yourself and your life.
